Keep it up, Ledgend! I must say that I loved you demos, just for the single fact that they seemed huge; there was so much to explore! Try not to lose that in an overworld map.

I dont think that the world map will loose the huge world but it will cut out the a lot of the boards unfortunatly. the main reason i did a world map was because it was taking too long to make the world. i will probaly upload some screenshots if i can of the world map. if enougth people dont like it then i will change back again.

I am afraid that LOR has been canceled. I do not have any time spare to work on it and i wont even have a pc in 10 days.

If it is requested i will upload the latest unfinished version of the game.

Maybe in a year or two i will try again. Make it better and try to complete it.

I've started on the game yet again after about 7 months, the past week ive been doing a good bit of work on LOR. anyone who has played my last demo can be assured that nearly everything is now running smoothly and there is about 45 playable boards so far. a lot of stuff has changed, mainly the character generation, class and skills.
unfortunatly i don't have much time too update this journal but I will try to update every week or 2.

here's the latest.

Intro Screen : 10% (Ha Ha i deleted half of the chars by accident)

Game engines : 98% (I will always be tweaking them)

Population : 45% (of the world I have made so far)

VIP's : 0% (soon will be some interesting people)

Lands : 25% (ish!?)

Enemies : 5% (skeleton, Zombie, Orc, Illithid,)

Lore/History : 15% (This is the history of the land, things that are hapening and just general things going on. At the moment you don't really know anything because i haven't put it in yet)

Its an adventure/rpg type game, where there isn't realy much of a plot exept what you do. ie, if you find a faction in a city rebelling against somthing you could either help them fight their cause, or kill them in the name of order. there is a demo floating about in the message boards somwhere, but it is quite dated.

I'm thinking of releasing an official demo with a bit more playable stuff as the last one was just a taster and only really showed off the engines and graphics.

I would be glad for you to help blackwind, but wait untill you play the demo so you can see what it's like.

Hey, Ledgend! Nice to see that you've revived your game... I always liked that game, especially the huge areas.

The Demo will be uploaded tomorrow.
Unfortunatly my keyboard is not working so i couldn't put in a few extra bits i wanted to, and might not be able to do much work on LOR for a while. but the demo will defenitly be here tomorow.

i will fix the bugs in this demo and upload it. i doubt there will be another update for maybe a year or so. but watch this space for progress reports.

Major problems!

my pc has commited suicide
and I had no recent backup copies of the latest version

so I thought i'd download the demo off the dmzx

my luck failed as i found out the demo i uploaded was the wrong demo, with loads of bugs and quite a few boards missing!

so in summery:
game progress will be halted untill i get a new computer.
progress will be looped back so i will have to redesign and refix bugs

I will try to recover the lopst demo from the remains of my pc i'm not expecting much from it. i'm sure it was sweating last time i turned it on!

well, I haven't posted for about 3 months but, i have just recently sorted out all problems with LoR and work is now back to normal. My main plan for the game for the moment is too officially release the game and not a demo. HOWEVER it is going to be quite cut down because at the moment im making the game too big and I want too get a finished world out.
So here is a current progress report:-

Intro Screen : 100% (Ive cut out the proper intro screen)

Game engines : 98%

Population : 60%

Quests :50%

Lands : 75%

Enemies : 50%

overall completion : 70%

I'm not making any promises but the game should be released by the end of march

Game engines : 98%

Population : 70%

Quests :70%

Im proberly going to hold the demo back now as ive decided to do a few big things to the game:
-put more animation in the player character
-redo a few engines
-put in a huge city(I plan about 10 screen sized boards on the surface + underground and buildings.)
I might release the game without the city and make that as a sorta swapworld addon once it's been made.

I've been doing quite a bit on the game lately especially this past weekend(about 30hrs!!).
The weapon animation for all characters is now done for all 5 weapons and 4 races, it looks great but it takes up 45% board memory! but its working out ok. Theres now about 60 map boards done and about another 10+ planned, also a lot(10-15) of "quest" boards and other non-map boards are in the making.
I'm currently going over the enemy robots and other game engines, so it all runs smoother.
My attempts at incorporating a fading engine for day/night have failed, mainly because there is not enough board mem(my global robot is used for the main character engine)
I have also made the world so you can travel pretty much where-ever you want. Think morrowind. Theres going to be a lot of places to explore and things to do.
Im also, before releasing the game, going to put in some link area's. This means that once it has been released, I can make "expansion worlds" to join on. these will mostly be smaller special worlds. Hopefully, if I can make it work, you will be able to travel freely between swapworlds and the main world. you'll have to wait and see.

Hope you're all looking forward to it, because its nearly ready.

. . . I think that once I finish this game I'll be a bit lost in my life, considering i've been trying to make this game for like, over 3 years! The amount of times its been lost, deleted, re-done, re-aranged and everything else thats hapend to it. . .

I started making it long before I actully joined dmzx. But most of the game I have now has been made in the last 18 months. Before that it was constantly being changed.

I remember the first version of LoR I made years ago. It had about 8 boards, one character class, built in enemies, hardly any graphics and it had smileys. But the one thing that has been kept almost unchanged is Laranto Village(Where the human starts), it was designed in the original game.

I would have uploaded that original for a laugh, but it was lost ages ago.

Here's something that I don't think anyone has done yet, and would really work: Have the player's character (with the level and equipment and appearance and stuff) saved in a seperate file. So maybe *playername*.LoR or something. That way, you could start a completely new game if you wanted, but keep your leveled-up character. Or, if you ever made a sequel, you could import characters from the previous game and stuff. So use FRead and FWrite to your advantage.
