I've been working on starport now, making it up to par graphics wise, any of you who saw the ORIGIONAL starport back when I put that demo out can rest assured that I did go back and make it look not so suck ass like before.

If I get it finished I'll put a screen shot up.

LOTS of work done today, I must have been in MZX for 12 hours today..
did a major SFX overhaul, specail thanks to WW who hooked me up with a few good .sams.
Other than sound most of todays work was on the battle screen and comm screen, what started as fixing a minor display problem, turned into a complete redo of the combat enemy ships 77 counters, the new system not only saved me large amounts of robot mem, giving me some nice breathing space, but also made future enemy design really simple. Most of the code re writen today hasn't been touched in several years so it was a bit difficult to figure out what I was thinking back then. Every thing running really smoth now, got a little bit more work to do on starport tonight, then I'm gonna sleep.Yeah yeah, I'll get ops' working one of these days =\

Excellent to see some progress. I admire your patience to code one thing for 12 hours.

Been gone for the last 5 days, on a whim at my friends house, I decided to see exactly how hard it would be to make a quick demo of the game, after about 35 minutes, I straped together a demo that had 5 star systems, 6 planets and 3 fights. Most of that time was spent patching some minor code oversights that came up when making the new boards.

Any way, this was a big step, this is the first time I've strapped the game all together to make sure everything together would work. And it did. Most pleasing.

Fixed a problem where planets would become NOT wrap around/continuous. While it's not really a fatal bug, if it happened you just would not pass from one edge of the map to the other, it has been corrected. It had to do with the mineral generator timing out and continuing with the landing sequence. Seems it skipped the part of code that copys the correct blocks to make a planet wrap around.

I'm gonna try to draw another alien just for kicks, I got 1 so far ^_^

The demo is waiting on balancing changes and proof reading. Initial reports indicate it will take longer than initially expected. (The balance changes include many changes to things deeply embedded in the robotic, not just quick counter adjustments.)

Initially we all thought the initial demo launch would be initiated in May. Don't worry about telling us when the demo is coming- I could be happy if I saw this game before I died.

Actualy I think the first time I claimed the demo would be out was roughly 2 years ago. =(

You seem to have an elevated Demo Curse - you announce a demo and it never comes. Hmm. Well, I'd be happy just to see this game, since the only copy I have of any Starflight game is an old Amiga disk that runs like crap in WinUAE...

It seems most of the balance changes are complete. I expect there to be some more minor adjustments, but all the big ones were taken care of. I am now finishing the last little bit of content. Oh, an intro would be nice too I guess =D

Soon enough, We're going to find out that all of the screenshots we've seen were made in paint, and that Starflight was never even started. =(

It takes a graphical genius to do MZX pictures in Paint.

Well, not really, but I'd like to think so.

CURSE YOU NON BELIEVERS!

And any way a select few played the game over 2 years ago, so have them confirm it's existance. And if any one still has a copy of that old old old demo, send me it, I wanna see it again >.<

Damnit there's always more work to be done. Quick list of big things to finish up:

*Finish Intro (75% done)
*Finish end sequence
*Finish dialouge
*Finish fixed battles
*Finish Starmap screen (I decided this SHOULD be finished before release)
*Play test
*Play test
*Play test
*Play test
*Play test
*Play test
*Play test
*Find a new beta tester to replace the one I lost...

GASP! =o

EDIT: I can also write some darn good dialogue, and even correct that which has already been written.
