Unlike with my previous journals, I'm going to barely describe what relevance any of my screenshots have to do with the big picture, and have less screenshots and less frequent posts as well. Anyway.


how do u liek my kikan menu colorz, r they unreadable enuff


okay I guess that last statement was a bit below the belt but the point is, is that you can change the colors from default monotonous grays to the eyesore blues and whites that luke seems to like, or some non-ugly greens. this effects gameplay too (the status bar at the top uses the menu colors). i'd post a picture of that but it's too early in development.

also support for but not necessarily inclusion of alternate music and sound effect sets.

Heh, no, I'm not bitter about the scores. If I offended you with the joke, sorry. I was just trying tease you a bit about your menu colors with a highly exaggerated opinion of what I thought they looked like.

Pretty much uh... level selection screen, options menu, player engine, and 1.5 out of 7 weapons.

the dude's rutter spins and it kind of floats there after it pops out of the lava and if you're being careless and jump without looking it might intercept you and make you fall into the lava =(

Looking quite good. But if it's anything like your last DoZ game (guess I'm assuming a lot from the weapon name) then please turn the overall speed down a little.

Oh, believe me, slowing the player and the weapons down was pretty much the first thing I did when I picked the project back up after the DoZ. :-D

The text box is three times as tall as it was in the DoZ release, also. I believe that was the other major complaint.

I slightly slowed down some of the enemies when I increased the precision of the movement engine

It's what Paul wishes he were. :u I was trying to get a screenshot where he poses/does a little dance and shoots stars out, but I was slightly late.

This looks pretty shit so hopefully the levels 1 and 3 graphics have made up for it. Only three more screenshots remaining! I might need a couple of beta testers ready within a week. :o

I think the screenshot above looks pretty good, though I am not sure what those diamonds are supposed to be. I will beta test.

I thought they were envelopes until I took a better look at them.

Disappearing block "puzzles" à la Mega Man, rain, and a utility item (you can use the Gorgeous Blade after you drop the jumpboard). It's half way in the ground because programming it the way I'd imagined would have meant putting customblocks all over the background or adding solid sprite-to-sprite collisions to my mess of an engine.


Triple the text box space, dialogue still sucks, more random references, and special messages when you get weapons. There's also a bit at the end of the first "cutscene" that actually mentions how the alignments work.
