"I got an electric guitar; I play my stupid songs. I sing these stupid words, and I love every one." -Weezer

SOME SONGS OF ES (AM I COPYRITE MAY 31 2006):

WING IT

Too many doors can be taken, too many doors in this room. Opening doors, is it all a lost cause? You do one right, you do one wrong, you make your life a little bit longer - what's it for? And so, my man, you'd better answer about the meaning of this thing - can't we shut off the flow and take a better turn? Or have we come a bit too late to introduce something that's great, well, yes, no, I don't know, is it what it seems? And I don't understand whatever it means...I guess we'll wing it, my friend, for we have come a bit too late to move the world, yeah we have come a bit too late to move the world. And so the ways they are awaitin', behind the doors we're gonna choose, that's all the difference between bad and better news - so you take yours, I'll take mine, maybe we meet and intertwine on down the road. Well, I think you knew that we were slated to separate into our schemes, and so we split - now I'm findin' out 'bout it! What did I miss? Where was it written? Down in fine print? Did I sign it? Well, maybe, 'cause don't you know, it's never what it seems! Ain't nobody readin' those tiny things - right? We've got to wing it, my friend, 'cause we are new, and we are dumb, and we're deferred, and we have come a bit too late to move the world. Yeah, yeah, yeah...well maybe life just isn't what it seems, and nobody out there knows whatever it means. It's time to wing it, my friend, and you know I don't even want to change the world, if we have come a bit too late to move the world. I think we've come here far too late to move the world...

BASKETBALL

I used to look at girls I liked, get the worst ideas and try to write them down. Sometimes I had no words for them at all, sometimes I thought I had no love, and that I had no basketball! But when you trust, no doubt, there is a flicker in you nobody can put out, and it shows through your skin until no one denies you. When he was little, they called him weird; he hoped some lovely one would make up for those years. Well, do you think they thought at all that now he'd think he's got no love because he played no basketball? But when you learn it - love - without a doubt, there is a flicker in you like a choir singin' out loud, and it shows through your skin until no one denies you. Man, we were little people with no hair on our faces - how can we take things seriously that happened in those places? Are you gonna lock the lesson out and learn it when you're older, or will you dig that ball out of your garage and stand up taller? Will you take your word and torch it all away, man, you've got to get to show your hand before you pass away - 'cause I have seen, no doubt, the flicker in you nobody has put out - and it showed through your skin so long, I can't deny you.

Please contribute, you garage guitarists (get up here LostOne and NoahSoft)

'we have come a bit too late to move the world' = a great hook.

How can I resist the call of Es? I'll have to post my band myspace url once it's up and running decently.

Backbone

Verse 1:
I?ve been your drug
I?ve been your security blanket
I?ve been your handhold through tough times
I?ve been your fix
I?ve been your one companion
I?ve listened when the stones went deaf

Pre-chorus:
And I?m thinking of you, my friend
As I let go of your hand
?Cause you?ll never learn to walk
Until I stop being your crutch

Chorus:
I can?t be your backbone any, any longer
And I won?t be your lone support any more
I can?t be your backbone any, any longer
And I won?t be your lone support any more

Verse 2:
I?ve been your guide
I?ve been your shoulder to cry on
I?ve been your lover and I?ve been your friend
I?ve been your charm
I?ve been your only compassion
I?ve been your port, to hide from the storm

A song for all ye struggling musicians:

I-5 Doesn?t Really Lead To Anywhere

We need grocery money
My wallet?s empty
So let?s tell our children
That we don?t love them anymore
And we?ll sit on the sidewalk
As the people pass and laugh
At our disgraceful station
Never turning back

And the comforts of home
Will all be left behind
When we sacrifice all
For a single cup of coffee
Warming frozen bones
And keeping foul thoughts away
Assaulting our grand vision
Far before they?re welcomed in

Hey cute thing, don?t bother me
I?m a liar, you can see
Here I flirt with insanity
I?m a liar, don?t bother me
Hey cute thing, don?t bother me
I?m a liar, you can see
Here I flirt with insanity
I?m a liar, don?t bother me
Yeah, I?m a liar, don?t bother me
Yeah, I?m a liar, don?t bother me

Yay for dealing with depression:

I Believe In Time Travel

They told me that it all was a lie
And if I?d smile it?d pass me by
And I am taking this bullshit
Because it?s better than the truth for a moment
And I am taking this bullshit
Because it?s better than the truth for a while

And no one ever asked me to dance
So I never had to tell them, ?I can?t?
And if the butterflies open their wings
It?s only to devour other things
Like the faults that we are all prone to see
I?m the stitch that was not quite meant to be
The concussion that replaces your scent
Forgetting where and how if someone went

Hedging in on my prospects, I know
This is the way they say we learn and grow
But I don?t think they understand
That no one takes candy from a stranger?s hand
And the bottle that I sold was real
But it lacked the old-timey feel
Of a carriage constructed for souls
A square peg in a round hole

And they told me that it all was a lie
And if I?d smile it?d pass me by
And I am taking this bullshit
Because it?s better than the truth for a moment
And I am taking this bullshit
Because it?s better than the truth for a while
I am taking this bullshit
Because it?s better than the truth for a moment
I am taking this bullshit
Because it?s better than
The truth

Here's one from my solo project 'Calm Acrobats'... I wrote and recorded it last night for the album 'Easier Being Let Down', which will hopefully be finished by the end of this summer... If I keep with it.

Patterns

I graduated in the year they said the world was going to end
So I had no qualms about using you again
And every step I took, and every selfish look
And every shared cigarette
Left me incomplete, controlled and a bit cheap
All that I could remember was the feel of your skin
And I can?t not let this happen again

We both grew up and went our ways
Holding calluses from early days
Without that scar tissue my heart would be broken a hundred times again
So I thank you for teaching me
To hide my feelings in between the sheets
For showing me the best way to deceive
And squeeze a semblance of order from the tangled webs we weave

And then I met the girl I knew was right
She said that she would be my closest friend
But try as hard as I might
I can?t not let this happen again
I can?t not let this happen again
I can?t not let this happen again
Je vous écris à présent que la porte claque à jamais derrière nous.

Those are nice :(. I have an acoustic and electric, but I never really play them. I used to try to write some songs but I just couldn't get 'em right.
