It was a calm summer's day. All was well... Looked like the perfect day for a skate. I got my deck out, and went over to my mates, and we trekked off to the skate park... YEAH RIGHT. No, this was in my baby days of skating. Anyway I was at my mates place, and I was for the first time attempting a varialflip (which I have to say I can now do, though it's a miracle I still have the balls *cough* to get on a skateboard), and I accidentally did a half shoveit, landing with on foot on the kick, and the other on the ground. The skateboard quickly flicked up and hit me in the nuts, and there I was, balancing on top of it for a few seconds, perched on my poor testicles. Sheer agony. I finally fell over, whereby I proceeded to bawl like a child. Needless to say, the worst wasn't over. Upon inspection, to my utter disbelief, there was blood in my underpants. LOTS OF IT. :O

Anyway my friends mum called the hospital, but she had to inspect it while she was on the phone so they'd know how bad it was. So she got to inspect the damage to my nutsack, which was a BARREL OF LAUGHS. She then proceeded to tell the nurse on the other end of the line that "Natty split his little cracker jacket." :(

I don't exactly remember what happened next since I was sort of going into shock, but I ended up at the hospital after showing my nuts to my mum, a GP and some old guy who was interested in finding out why I was holding my dick. I was to have stitches; the only stitches I've ever had. (I still have an interesting scar ;D) Before the stitches though, I had to undergo more agony.

First of all, the doctor to do the stitching was a chick. She came and gave me a cup to pee in, so that they could ascertain whether or not I'd done something other than just split the skin. (ARE YOU ALL CRINGING IN HORROR YET?) I filled 'er up, and it was all yellow and not red (which I suppose was a good thing). But then the worst thing ever happened. Before I got given anasthesia, the doctor wanted to examine the "patient", which happened to be standing up attentively. Yeah. :( Then she put the needle in my arm and poor little larky dropped like a bucket of ice. A very cold bucket of ice. Then I got the stitches; I was awake for the whole embarrassing process.

As if that wasn't enough, the day after next I was back at school, when I had to rush to the toilets in severe pain because one of my stitches got caught in the stitching of my boxers. I managed to untangle it myself, but from that day onwards I VOTE JOCKS.

Okay so that's my horrifying tale. What's your worst injury ever?

(Note I was a lot younger when this happened. Okay, not a lot, but about 14.)

Not specifically an injury perse.

But when I was 14 I went swimming in our local swimming pool with my school. And I picked up an infection called Molluscum contagioso.

What this basically entailed was a lot (50+) of quite large black spots growing on my chest and right shoulder, the first doctor we saw hadnt a clue what it was and referred me to a skin specialist. He saw it and identified it as molluscum contagioso.

The cure? He took out a scalpel and proceeded to cut off each and every spot. The blood was black red because it was on the chest I guess.

Not only was it horrifically painful (even with a local anaesthetic) but after he did half of them he told me that he would have to stop there because so much blood was coming out. so he bandaged me up and told me to come back in two days. Where he proceeded again.

Fun times!

Oh glee!

Okay then. Only like a few weeks ago I went for a walk barefoot. Note, however, that the roads were tar, it was summer, and I live in Florida. Despite that, I walked barefoot on the blazing hot tar for about 45 minutes.

All SEEMED fine when I got home, but upon examining my foot, I noticed that there were AIR POCKETS underneath a layer of skin. I couldn't help but pick at this a little and then they just burst open and pus squirted out and AGH D: D: D:

So my feet were missing like an entire layer of skin now. And the layer of skin below that is sensitive and fragile. After walking around for a while on this, the SECOND layer started splitting apart in places, leaving gashes all over my feet. It hurt like heck to walk :(

This is only just NOW starting to heal up. Let this be a lesson; always wear shoes outside :(

I have -two- worst injuries ever.

When I was 5, during a game of hide and seek, I fell off of a bunkbed onto someone's head and bit my tounge off. I was rushed to the hospital and it was surgically reattached. I had a nasty speed impediment for several years, but now it's fairly undectable.

And, when I was 21, I had Epididymitus. Wow, was that F'ing painful. For those who aren't up to speed, it's characteristed by massive swelling of the area in question, and painful anything those organs do. It strikes 1 in 1000, and I learned after that it runs in the family, as my dad had it when he was my age.

A couple of months ago, I pulled a chair out while barefoot and it caught my big toenail, bending half of it up at a 90 degree angle. It didn't hurt much, but all the blood freaked me out a bit :(

And at the hospital, they just cleaned, grabbed, and bent it back down. That made me yelp ;_;

when i was 3 i broke my elbow in some day care place and fucked up my elbow really bad, i don't remember it, but my parents sued and i got like $15,000 in my name, so that was pretty cool. :(

in 8th grade i tripped in middle school and broke my left wrist.

then the same year in 8th grade my brother threw a baseball really hard at my back and i was pissed at him so i chased him to beat the shit out of him and i tripped on the patio and broke my right wrist.

in 11th grade i was backyard wrestling with my friends brother and i jumped off the table onto him and rebroke my left wrist.

in 12th grade i got my head busted open in my forehead by an opening door and was bleeding al lover the place and i needed stitches and plastic surgery to make it look normal again (which i think we ended up making the school pay for).

My worst injury ever? One day, at summer camp, when I was 8 or 9 or something, it was arts and crafts time. Yay. Then I was told to go down through the construction site to the lake and get some water. "But it's dangerouse!" I said. "I checked it, it's okay. GO!" and with a push to the back, I tumbled down the hill into a jagged pipe. I twisted my leg a little because if I hadn't, the pipe would've ripped my crotch right off. :pikachu: But then they rushed over and yanked me out. "Oops." I had 2 huge rips on my leg, and was rushed to the hospital. There, I met my mom who was by the hospital bed. Then the doctor stuck me with a needle that hurt like hell, (needles don't hurt me now :( ) whiched numbed my leg enough so that I couldn't feel the other needle containing the stitches go in an out of my body 20 times. :( I had lunch at the hospital, rode back home, and sat on my couch with my leg held up for a few weeks. After the stiches were removed, a huge scar was left on the front of my leg; a smaller one on the side. Luckily, it was summer, so it didn't interfere with school. But, since then, the scar on my front has shrunken, and the one on the side has gotton more vague. And, the happiest part of all, the camp has been sued. =D

There was the time I almost died in a car accident. When I was 6 I was in a car accident with a dump truck. My parents, a sister and a brother died; me and my other sister survived. She was mostly undamaged. I broke several bones in my legs and many other internal injuries im not quite sure of. I hear doctors thought I wouldn't survive but I recovered pretty much 99%.

Luckily I'm the sort of person who cowers away from most activities that could possibly end in injury, so I've never had any particularly serious injuries... =P
But anyway...

During the summer between sixth and seventh grade, I think it was, I was having lots of nosebleeds. It escalated slowly... one nosebleed a week, two a week, three, one a day, two a day... and so on.
Anyway, my girl scout troop was having a field trip to the mall in Naples (neighboring city inhabited by rich people with a very large mall, just so you know). Before going I had already had four nosebleeds that day, but they were really minor so I figured I'd be okay. WRONG. On the way there my nose practically exploded. I stopped it up with all the napkins we had in the car (which were alot, thankfully), and by the time we got there every napkin was absolutely saturated with blood. I had to sit there and bleed on the pavement for a while before it slowed down enough for me to go anywhere without trailing blood all over the place.
(I just loved how all the other girls were making their plans to ditch me. Their shopping was just so much more important than me bleeding to death.)
Anyway, one of the troop leaders took me down to the mall security office (WHILE THE OTHER GIRLS SHOPPED.) where they had more tissues and a phone which I called my parents with. Thankfully my dad was working in Naples at the time, so he came and got me and took me to the hospital.
Uhn... hospitals. I hate hospitals.
Basically the prognosis was "We don't know how to cauterize it. Go see a nose doctor."
And then... the nasal tampon.
... no, really! That's what they called it! Sure it's funny now, but it certainly wasn't then...
Most painful experience of my life. Holy shit. Never believe a doctor when they say something will be only "mildly uncomfortable."

(I'm sure at least one person will remember me whining about it on #mzx while on heavy painkillers XD )
Here I am, back from space! Now, where are the ghosts?

When we were playing Minigolf, some idiot decides to be funny and do a full swing. With me standing there. Hit just an inch above my left eye.

Another time my breaks on my bike failed and I rammed into a stoneblock and tilted over. Got unconcious for a few hours and had temporary amnesia for a few days.

Not really an injury but during a class my left lung had an air bubble spontaneously burst and leak out air, which made breathing extremley difficult. It didn't help that we had spent the class talking about, you guessed it, death.
Phasing in and out now and then.

This one time i got a paper cut :(

When i was 12ish i broke my arm at school (no i didn't sue them =() and yeah, broken arm, no big deal. I got it fixed and stuff, during the surgery for fixing it, they found my blood pressure was really high. and didn't think about it anymore than that. A GP at the doctor clinic found a heart murmer when i was there and they took me to some specialist person. And they found that i had a coarctation of the aorta (no, i don't know how to spell it :() And so i got to the Melbourne children hospital (whoo, free holiday) and had an operation and stuff, i can't be bothered explaining what the did so i will draw a picture:

(I suck at drawing)

But oh no, of course that didn't work.

So they cut it out and put a bit of plastic there instead D:

When I was really young (3 or 4) I rolled off the top bunk of my bed. I don't think I took any serious lasting damage from it, but my parents were probably worried to death. (I don't recall much of that day anymore...)

Outside of that, I don't think I've hurt myself that badly at all through my life. I guess I'm just lucky...
Blaugh!
Serious damage to important body parts pretty much ruins any plans you had for living. Bummer.

Two summers ago, somehow or the other, I tripped, and felt a semi-nasty pain in my left big toe. I saw bleeding and what looked like a space missing toenail between the nail and the nail bed. It turns out there was a fracture and that my nail had been ripped from the nail bed, so it spent much of the summer and some of 7th grade healing :(

When I was little I did a spin into my family's big, company pool... I only made it 180 degrees before my chin hit the cement siding. I recall this painful sensation as if my chin was cracking and falling part, but it turned out I only recieved a bad cut and had to get stitches for it. To this day the rule still stands, "No spinning when you jump."

Another time I was riding on my bike and turning a neighborhood corner. I felt like being cool, so I tried to curve the bike as close to the ground as I could. Well, I did it further than I could and fell on the side of my head. When you're little, injuries can at first seem worse than they are..I just noticed that..after I came to halt from sliding on the street for a number of feet (probably less distance than I remember) I thought the whole right side of my head was scraped off.

I reached the age of ten or so, and while running across a sand bank to show my brother something I had found, a sliced right big toe on a piece of glass. I forget exactly what happened from then, but I remember crying hysterically as they all carried me out from the creek and back to the house--and what sticks in my mind is, I looked down at my legs and they were totally covered in blood (which is when I screamed and they told me not to look). Common now, one cut and blood ALL over. Doggone.

As for more recent injuries, I dunno. An actual injury occured this past season in football. I went to tackle a guy on the kick-off--I was gonna try and barrel him over by turning myself sideways..I dunno--but instead I caught a small part of his jersey with my middle _finger_ and shocked that tendon so bad it contracted and my finger healed crooked. Since then I've recieved a month or more of therapy, and from that I've planned on surgery. I'm not sure when I'm gonna go in for that.

It's ridiculous. The injury I got is actually called (guess what), "Jersey Finger" because it happens so much.

Typing, as well as playing the piano, work fine, as my finger is at like, 25 degrees right now. Even as it was before, at like, 70 degrees, the natural positions of the fingers are more bent than anything.

I cut myself with a knife but it was not very deep and it stopped bleeding after a minute or so, but the cut was very clean so it did not hurt at all.

Also one time I fell on my knee and it got scratched and hurt a little.

One time I got a sun burn and it itched a bit.

My worst injury is when I wanted to bake eggs, so I waited until the oil was hot and then dumped an egg in the pan, but it made the oil splash on my arm and burn it.

I went biking while I was in 8th grade and got hit by a car. I think I narrowly avoided getting a concussion from that, but my left shoulder hurt for a while afterwards, and now I can make this sick popping noise with it.

The only injuries I have ever had:

I broke my leg when I was around baby age. I was standing on a toy Xylophone with keys trying to reach for something on top of a TV (I don't remember what it was though.) I fell back, pulled the TV with me, and crushed my leg. And then the TV went static. I remember being in a cast at the time and trying to stand up, but the bottom of the cast was so round that I couldn't keep balance.

There was also this one time I had severe chicken pox when I was just as young, but I vaguely remember any of that.

Um, I've never really had much in the way of injuries. Typically the only times I've been hospitalised were because of illness, not injury.

Hrm, I've got three that about tie. The time I broke my collarbone, the time I broke my wrist, and the time I skinned my knee in a church parking lot and it was bleeding all through the service (and through the concurrent children's service, at which I was supposed to be of help.) The collarbone and wrist might seem to pale in comparison, and they probably do for the pain factor--but each of those was on the same arm as my writing hand, so I went without writing for awhile on each injury, which in middle school can be in some ways difficult.

Um, there was this one time where I fell off my bike and the gravel tore the skin off my knee and I got to watch it grow back. That was pretty cool.
And then my dad accidentally twisted my ankle while I was in our tire swing and it got sprained I had to have it put in a cast.
And there was the time where I was biking downhill and hit a pothole and went over the handlebars and tore up my chin really bad, but that's finally all healed. I couldn't shave for about a month after that =(
Other than that I am a safe and boring person.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."
- C.S. Lewis

This week, on LANCER PONDERS:
<lolilover> I notice alot of Japanese fiction involving kemono-mimi characters always has the main character saving an innocent animal and then the animal returns as a girl to reward him for his kindness.
<lolilover> Well there's a cat that is always wandering around in my backyard. Should I feed it in the hopes that one day a catgirl will show up at my door?
