I've compiled a list of the best hip-hop/rap songs ever produced. These are sorted alphabetically by artist, not by order of awesomeness. It'd be hard to order these songs in that respect.

Beastie Boys - Paul Revere
Coolio - Gangsta's Paradise
Dr. Dre - Forgot About Dre
Dr. Dre ft. Snoop Dogg - Ain't Nuthin Nut A 'G' Thang
Dr. Dre ft. Snoop Dogg - Next Episode
Dr. Dre ft. Snoop Dogg - Still D.R.E.
Eminem - Stan
Eminem - Till I Collapse
Jay-Z - Dead Presidents II
Kanye West - Jesus Walks
Nas - One Mic
Nas - The World Is Yours
Nas ft. Puff Daddy - Hate Me Now
Notorious B.I.G. - Big Poppa
N.W.A. - Fuck Tha Police
Public Enemy - Fight The Power
Sugarhill Gang - Rapper's Delight
Tupac Shakur - California Love
Tupac Shakur - Changes
Wu Tang Clan - Protect Ya Neck

Honorable Mention:
MC Proof - 72nd and Central
Tupac Shakur - Kepp Ya Head Up
A Tribe Called Quest - Electric Relaxation

Any list that includes Mike Jones three times, and doesn't mention Tupac or Nas once has no value in my book.

I'm sorry.

I respect emalkay's list a little more, but I can't see how Mike Jones is even close to top 20. Also, Without Me is an obnoxious song.

EDIT: This is why Nas deserves a top 20 spot. You guys will understand this one day.

Well I would have put more Jay Z in there if I could remember the name of his songs, he is prolly my fav rapper of all time. As for Mike Jones, well that's just my personal taste, I really dig the up-tempo, screwed up, southern-slang stuff; reminds me of grime. It's a lot of fun and it makes me move, very energetic. Y'see, it's not all about lyrical content for me, it's more about flow.

But Nas is very good, yeh, I just haven't heard enough of him.

EDIT: Ooh, how could I forget about 'Lupe Fiasco - Kick Push', talk about FRESH. Top choon!

The thing that bothers me about Mike Jones is that he lacks material. Usually he'll have one or two hot lines in a song that he repeats CONSTANTLY. They even carry into other songs. In "Still Tippin" he uses his "Back then hoes didn't want me, now I'm hot hoes all on me" several times. It's bothersome.

EDIT: I also have to give more honorable mention. This time it's Oxycotton by Lil Wyte.

...ok. :(

Micah, that third nas track you posted is wikkid, lovin it. I really should catch more of his stuff.

Oh yeah, Snow is making a comeback it seems (or trying to)...

http://www.myspace.com/snowtheartist

I really like the first track, he's swayed a lot more to the reggae side of things now.

I don't really like rap. Reading poetry about niggaz n carz n biitchess wit a wak beat in da bakground.

But if I had to choose, a lot of Eminem's stuff is cool. Mosh is a neat song.

Hrm I have a liking for Outkast, however pop-culture they might be or whatever. I enjoy Tupac's music and at times the message isn't bad either. Also, Usher/L'il John's "Yeah." Not because the lyrics are good, in the moral or quality sense of the word, but because of the song as a song.

(I haven't really heard enough hip-hop to really know about either artist, but I know a couple songs from each (excludin' the Usher/L'il John) have made good impressions on me.)

Mmm mm, I still love hearing Twista feat. Kanye West - Overnight Celebrity. It's so fast and unintelligible, it makes me giggle, yet it doesn't actually sound like it's going very quickly.

I'm not a huge rap listener but I like:

Kanye West
Fugees
Saul Williams
Outkast

And whatever else strikes my ear in a positive fashion I guess. Couple tunes by Tupac, Eminem, whomever.

Edit: How could I forget Snoop Dogg - What's My Name?

At most I'd be able to list three Hip-Hop songs that I listen to willingly, however, I have no idea what they're called :(.

When I listen to hiphop I usually don't listen to one track at a time, and never memorize any names...

some hiphop artists I like:
A Tribe Called Quest (Electric Relaxation
Beastie Boys
The Streets
De La Soul
Fugees
The Sound Providers
Wu Tang
Some MF Doom and some Spooks

You also have to appreciate the works of Lil' Jon, nobody keeps it crunker. Da Blow with Bo Hagan and Gangsta Boo is TITE.

I've only heard a couple of their songs (they gave 'em away on music.download.com) but I prett much enjoy what I've heard of Dilated Peoples. Not sure exactly how I feel about all their lyrics, but I like them mostly on the lyrical front and for the most part on the musical front.
