BTW, T-Bone, I am disapointed in you. You make good games and games that make a small amount of sense. Crappy cameo games are reserved for for jocks like Guy and cja. Shame on you. :p

Who said this game wasn't going to make any sense? Hence why I've worked out the script and story for this now. I think you just have a personal grunge about games that have "cameos" in them. More in particularly: pooproad games.

I've also come to this thread to call ThDPro a bastard.

ThDPro you really are a bastard.

Cameo games can be done well mind you. The new years games, BAND!3, EMF series even the Cans series were quite good at their time. So what? There's too many cameo games now. At least they're actually making something!

Project reopened.

I've been building more scenes and levels to connect the story together. I'm currently in the process of figuring out which character deserves which special set of attack moves. So if any of you are upset with the results of YOUR specialties... too bad :p

I'm still open to the idea. Defiantly not all or even half of the characters will have vocal audio. When it comes down to it, I'll be messaging the members of the forums of which i'd like to do some voice acting. If anyone is interested just let me know here and I'll get back to you for the lines.

It was put on hold for a while because I was just too busy. I'm kind of afraid to touch it any time soon. The code is really nasty looking; might require a rewrite. The battle scenes were completely wacked. It needs a lot of work to fix. For the most part, it needs a lot of time. I do hope to finish it ohowever, the question is when.

I'd like to have a temple. A temple of randomness. Also, make it abandoned since by the time the game will be released, i will be... *static* missed.
Huh.

Okay I've decided to add a Leveling system so that your characters can gain skills based on which level they have achieved. You gain experience from killing monsters, bosses and completely tasks / quests.

The game was becoming too easy. By reducing the player's attack damage and defenses from the start and forcing him to work his way to becoming stronger in order to advance... certainly adds more to the game's difficulty. Plus.. its just more fun this way! Those of you who hate RPG's are gonna kill me though :p

I'LL KILL YOU..........if you don't complete this game, it sounds fucking awsome. I hope i'm in as a stock character who dies before the first comercial break. I allways wanted to be an expandable extra.

I've added the leveling system as well as a skill build. So now as you gain more experience and level up you can gain new skills and build on to existing skills, to make them more powerful. Each character has a skill unique from any other character.

Here's the current system I'm working on so far, will most likely change:

Level 1 - 4
Generic Bullets [space+dir]
HP 100
MP 25

Level 5 - 9
Unique Initial Skill [del]

HP 125
MP 50

Level 10
Unique Secondary Skill Build [del]

HP 150
MP 75

So basically HP starts at 100 and MP starts at 25, and each level achieved you gain 25 points towards each maximum. I'm thinking about adding strength points as well, for bullet and skill damage inflictions towards enemies. Also thinking about adding defensive points, which can be improved through leveling as well.

Good to see you're planning out things! Goshi's right, RPG's in MZX usually never get finished, so... Good luck with this one. Also, are you planning on releasing a demo anytime soon?

I'll most likely not release any demo. Just so that I don't reveal any spoiler to the story. Things are slowly coming together. There's still many more graphics to work on and levels. I put about 1 to 2 hours a day into working on this, which is not much at all but at least its something to keep it moving.

UPDATE!

This game has not been forgotten! I've started building more levels recently and enemies. The story is now locked and solid. Lately I've been tweaking the controls. I've noticed a problem when using certain laptops that the keys are completely different, especially the [DEL]. So I'm hoping to change the control handling so its possibly customizable - like most PC games.

Additionally, more work has been done on the graphics. There are A LOT of characters in this game so it will take me a couple more weeks to complete all of their graphics.

Dont hate retro MZX!

Through the 3 years this game has been in development, I had no idea I was even in this as a playable character.

Serious damage to important body parts pretty much ruins any plans you had for living. Bummer.

On that note, I'm temporarily hijacking your journal thread to let you know that I don't hate retro(ugh) mzx, in fact I'm making a largely default mzx game just to prove that I can. It looks nice so far.

Ok, that's as much of a journal entry as i can make.
