(topic name cut off: was meant to be 'Please stop author-deleted posts from being moved to the admin vault instead of being deleted')

Please? I really don't like this feature!

<Malwyn> Yes, yes. Don't worry I'd rather masturbate with broken glass than ask you for help again. :(

I know we had a reason for this, but I don't recall who implemented it in the first place... Wervyn, was that you?

Yes, and I like it the way it is thank you very much. If there were a way to differentiate between a post that you made in the last five minutes but thought better of and a post that you made three weeks ago but thought better of, I might allow the first one to be deleted, but as an archivist I don't like the idea of anyone being able to irrevocably remove a part of this board's history on a whim. If it bothers you that much, stop posting stuff that you don't actually mean to post, I don't understand the point of it.

In that case, can you set up a time restriction for Elites to delete their own posts, like the time restriction for normal users to edit theirs? As you've probably seen, I delete posts a lot because I reconsider the merits of posting said post (in the most recent case due to not reading the post I was replying to) and didn't want to edit it into a post saying something unnecessary simply because I've got a post there. But, oh well, I guess it doesn't matter that much.

I posted something, edited it, then deleted it. I wonder what ends up in the vault?

The edited version. It's a fair point, it's not a perfect system, but I still think it's valuable. It's also not really targeted at the Elite group but was originally to help with admin removal of posts like spam or other cleanup. Having all deleted posts go to the trash instead of disappearing makes it much easier to clean up a thread by just selecting the offending posts and clicking delete. Or better, going through the ACP and deleting all of a user's posts. Otherwise, you'd have to split topic, create a new topic name, and select a target forum for it, and do so for each spam thread; marginally more time consuming. It's not like I go through the Vault on a regular basis looking for your deleted posts and thinking "man, Lancer's such a tard, I bet he's glad he can delete this crap.", like I'm planning to use it against you later. In fact I don't think I've seen a single deleted post where I didn't think "why did he delete that? There was nothing wrong with that." For that reason, after I'd turned the setting on and started noticing deleted Elite posts show up in the Vault, I initially thought there was a bug in the system that was randomly deleting posts from the board. I think I even moved a couple back because I thought they were mistakes, before I realized what was actually going on.
