Besides only two people in the game are from the DMZX community so it's almost like Not A Cameo Game At All!

The problem with cameo games is that they use an incredibly cheap ways of 1) characterization, because the player is supposed to already know the personalities of the characters, and 2) humor, because they use community in-jokes. Predictably, both of these backfire horribly when the player doesn't know who the characters are or what the in-jokes mean. It's like The Day After Tomorrow when Roland Emmerich takes cheap shots by having natural disasters destroy well known landmarks. If the Hollywood Sign got torn down and everybody forgot about it 15 years from now, and went back and watched that terrible movie, they'd have no clue why they're supposed to care about that scene! I didn't even care about anything in that movie when I saw it! Fuck you Roland Emmerich! Same thing with MZX cameo games from the 1990s, probably only a handful of people in the community actually remember who the people in Cans were anymore.

But really, what's most important is that you're making a game and having fun doing it. Cameo games can be done well as long as you remember to take time to show the personalities of the characters on-screen so the player cares a little and base the humor on things that the average player (Lancer-X) would find funny instead of random pop-culture references or in-jokes.
