I tried clicking on one of the MegaZeux download links off of the new Vault front page, and the user experience is not particularly good. The actual link to download the archive is in an obscure little box off to the side, and there's no content at all to be seen.

Couldn't this have gone in the front page thread? I mean, it's just a WIP being discussed there.
Not saying we have so many threads we need to condense them but still!
As for the download, hmm, I don't think it's too bad. Maybe just shove a screen of Caverns in there so it looks less barren. It doesn't take much eye wandering to locate the download link.

<Malwyn> Yes, yes. Don't worry I'd rather masturbate with broken glass than ask you for help again. :(

Considering that downloading is the primary function of the page, I think we should have some sort of fairly obvious button/link to start the download. Perhaps we could linkify the game name at the top - it's quite prominent, and definitely looks like it *could* be a link already.
Also, this is a new topic because it's more than just the front page. This is problematic for all downloads; the use case is particularly bad if you click on the MegaZeux platform icons, however.

The problem exists in the fact that for games with multiple ZIP files, there's no concrete way to differentiate the main game from, say, a music archive. Similarly, if ajs added a second ZIP file to any of the platform records, we'd have a contention issue over which is the "MZX Proper" ZIP.
Instead, I wonder if I made the "DOWNLOAD" background part of that left hand widget green, would that help?

I still agree that bigger and more eye-catching is better in this case. We want to make it as easy as possible to download MZX on the off-chance someone actually clicks through the site. I'd actually recommend having the links on the front page go directly to the file download itself instead of the showcase page with nothing on it. And in general, the download link(s) on the showcase page needs to stand out and say "click me" as boldly as possible without becoming obnoxious.

I agree, there should be a more obvious download button.

I had a question about updating a game already archived. Do we treat updates games as separate downloads or does the old version in the archive get replaced. I notice that some reviews mention bugs and other things that result in a lower rating, that could be fixed later and reuploaded. But then what happens with the current rating or review?
Say we made a game called "Blue Doom" and then later on we want to update it/fix its bugs. Do we upload a new zip of the game called say "Blue Doom version 2"? or does the original get replaced and reviews and ratings removed? Also, consider that nobody would want to download an older version if it contains bugs and there is a new version with all issues fixed.
