Message from the Management

When you finish a new game, demo, engine, or utility, the first thing to do is submit it to the archive for approval. (Log in first, then Upload a New Game from the sidebar.) Then feel free to post about it in this forum; in fact, please continue to do this. This is so people will actually know about your game and play it. As nice as it is to have archive uploads automated, it's not going to help much if no one knows you have a new game to play.

When uploading your games to the archive, please zip up your game using the .ZIP format, even if it is just a .MZX file. As for less popular formats (such as RAR and 7Z), games uploaded in these formats will be rejected. This is because as wonderful as those compression algorithms might be, ZIP is a near universal compression standard, and the only one that will work with the in-game archive browser planned for MZX.

You can also attach your game to a new thread in this forum. In this case, you can use whatever compression format you find suitable. NOTE: Games posted this way won't be put into the archive unless submitted to the archive proper, or unless the author states he/she wants the game in.

Lastly, we suggest you post a suitable screenshot of your submission (in PNG format) along with the game.

Hey, is RT still going to be released in Spring 2007?

It'll be released alongside CoAZ.

Actually, I think it'd be pretty cool to get Oizys+CoAZ out by February 18... not sure if it's gonna happen, though.

Maybe BBH could get Episode 3 out by February 18, too! That'd be a pretty cool way to end the Blitzkrieg Year of Zeux

I played through a lot of JG's Neatsome Magical Adventures, mostly jumping around in the editor. I really liked the part based on my game, it was very quaint. These games are really good, and it's a great concept. Exploring past MZX games without devolving into parody like many others.

Episode 3 is now currently pending in the archives. It's basically MagAdv, with less... embarrassment.

I don't really want to play MagAdv again so soon after just playing it, but I'll keep it around for next time.

<Malwyn> Yes, yes. Don't worry I'd rather masturbate with broken glass than ask you for help again. :(

I'm actually surprised at MagAdv's length, to be honest. A complete playthrough can take at least 2 hours.

Makes me wonder if I can make a long game like that again these days...

Oh yeah, and Ep. 3 is up. Coolness.

It would take a fair bit less time if you go straight to the island when you first can, but I suspect it would be nearly impossible without the added health, lives, mana and *ESPECIALLY* the firewalking spell (although I think you can get the firewalking spell in exchange for the rum which you get when you get the telescope, so it's not really out of your way to pick up that essential spell). Be amusing, though I suspect painful, to speedrun.

Having noticed that MagAdv "borrowed" the font of Smiley RPG (along with a whole lot of other stuff, but let's not go there...), I've been thinking. Should JGadv change fonts? Because the default font just screams "generic" and "ZZT". And if so, will Mallo mind if I keep using the Smiley RPG font? Or should I use a different font, and which one?

Also, any opinions on Ep. 3?

Also also, I promise to finish this series (I estimate two more episodes). This will not befall the same fate as Hamlet and Fiona's Sepulcher...

I finally finished Ep. 4. Then I went back and updated the other three episodes a little (no more crossing Susarra Heights twice, for one thing). And then threw all four episodes into one zip file and submitted the whole thing to the Vault as a single entry. I'm proud to say that J.G.'s Neatsome Magical Adventures are finished... for now.

Is it possible to delete the other three older separate episodes? None of them have any reviews anyway so it should be no big loss.
