I spent a decent part of today brushing the "Genre" field under the rug and designing a new implementation of tagging. At the moment, new tags types can't be added from the interface. This thread is for tag suggestions (e.g. "Classic", "First Person", "Platformer"). Please don't abuse the tagging system :)

edit: I've still yet to copy over or convert tags from the old system, and I'm not sure that I really should.

Possibly "Cameo" and "Parody", since they're the two most common types of 'casual' game.

I just realized that my first post unintentionally implied that you can't tag games. You can tag games with the already-existing tags, but an admin has to manually add new tag names.

That's a good idea but too obvious. I just added a "Classic" tag... perhaps you might put that one on games that fit that bill, since they're bad in a classic way? : )

There are. "Classic" is being applied to anything with classic-style gameplay (default shooting, lo-bombs and hi-bombs, built-in enemies... the sort of stuff MZX Combat Trainer is good for). It just so happens that a lot of them are bad. :-)

This doesn't quite fit the suggested tag but I can't think of a nice way to say it... maybe we could have a Gold Collection counterpart for the worst of the worst? Mauve Collection? No that sucks, somebody think up something better

Maybe instead of 'Classic' you could have 'Traditional'- because I think it's legitimately going to confuse people who see Classic and might assume the game in question is a classic when in fact the game in question is AROON.MZX.
