I wanted to know how my laptop PC compared to my desktop PC for MZX number crunching, so I made a basic test world.

Laptop (core i7 2ghz 4core, GeForce GTX 460m):

Empty board: 2088 fps
Variables: 29 fps
VLayer resizing: 33 fps
Busyloop: 35 fps
2 instances Busyloop: 34 fps
3 instances Busyloop: 33 fps
4 instances Busyloop: 31 fps
5 instances Busyloop: 24 fps
6 instances Busyloop: 21 fps
fullscreen 1920x1080 GLSL HQ: 584 fps
windowed GLSL regular: 3217 fps

Netbook (Atom 1.6ghz 1core):

Empty board: 229 fps
Variables: 1 fps
VLayer resizing: 4 fps
Busyloop: 4 fps
2 instances Busyloop: 1-2 fps (varies)

Desktop (Core 2 3.6ghz 2core, GeForce GTX 260):

Empty board: 2629 fps
Variables: 36 fps
VLayer resizing: 29 fps
Busyloop: 50 fps
2 instances Busyloop: 47 fps
3 instances Busyloop: 10-48 fps (varies)
4 instances Busyloop: 7-48 fps (varies)
5 instances Busyloop: 9-36 fps (varies)
6 instances Busyloop: 5-24 fps (varies)
fullscreen 1920x1080 GLSL HQ: 1038 fps
windowed GLSL regular: 4095 fps

Did you really need two topics for this?

Decided to try it out of curiosity.

Core 2 3.0GHz 2 core, GeForce GTX 460, 2GB DDR2-800

Empty Board: 1930fps
Variables: 12fps
Vlayer Size: 26fps
2 instance Busyloop: 32fps

Your benchmark seems to show very little consistency.

<@Tixus> Anyway, I set the year to 1988 for some reason.
<@Tixus> And set the microwave to run for a minute and 28 seconds.
<@Tixus> But it failed to send me back in time, and I was disappointed.
<Insidious> Tixus accidentally microwaved the 80s
<Insidious> that is my takeaway from this
