Apparently, I don't have permission to view one of my own attachments. The file in question is this one: ADBIVE.ZIP.

Surely I should have permission to view/download all of MY attachment files. :(

ADMIN EDIT: It is because the post in question was Memorial-ised and users do not have download permissions in that forum. Should be fixed now.

i also noticed that some of the older attachments are gone
<Nadir> mzxers don't make GAMES, usually
<phthalocyanine> they make experiences.
<Nadir> demos, more like
<Nadir> a glimpse into what could have been if mzx wasn't such a bore to work with
<Nadir> actually, i'm being unfair
<Nadir> i would have made mzx games if it was capable of running on more than 20 computers worldwide in 1998
<Nadir> >:D

<%Alice> functor
<%nooodl> i hear C++ has a thing called functors and they're completely different from Haskell functors...
<rorirover> the result is the most horrid thing in C++, it's basically black magic and it transforms any code you're writing into some eldritch monstrosity

Its strange considering that, no matter how bad an MZX game is, whether its an badly designed tedious monstrosity like Blue Buckaroo or a plagiarized trainwreck like CR2-6, none of them have ever been deleted. So whats up with this!? :(

Forum thread attachment. And you shouldn't lose permission to view your own especially.

Wow that's actually really strange. Is there an expiration on attachments? I'm assuming your file wasn't even that old.

Looks like Lancer did get to this, but just edited a response into Giel's original post instead of making a new one, hilarity! Short answer is, at least according to that, the issue should be resolved, try it again and see if it works.

As a point of historical curiosity, I'm pretty sure there are attachments to some very old threads before we migrated from IPB2 to IPB3 that did get lost. At this point that's ancient history but there is precedent for attachments going missing.

That's not what happened here though, this was a permissions goof plain and simple. The IPB admin controls actually provide a huge amount of granularity over permissions, and it looks like general member downloading for attachments in the memorial was not allowed by mistake or just oversight. Other archived boards probably still have the same issue; we've generally limited uploads to specific subforums, and set up the download permissions to mirror those, but if a thread or post gets moved those permissions can change.

"Ya done goofed son."
To lie is to change the truth.
..Ignorance is to be unaware of the truth.
....Incompetence is to be unable to grasp the truth.
......And escape is to run away from the truth.
It is useless to run, since the truth is right next to you.

The issue has indeed been fixed. Now I'm able to download my attachment. Thanks. :(
