If you are new to DMZX, please take the time to look over the FAQ pinned in General before asking a question.

Some simple tips when posting problems:

1) Read FAQs first, and then other recent bug posts and entries in the Bug Tracker. The problem has, often, been already addressed. Redundant reports just waste time.

2) Make sure you explain exactly when the problem happens. If impossible, narrow down the problem to a few possible causes.

3) Go into specifics about your computer and MZX settings. Are you running MZX on Windows, Linux, Mac OS, a PSP, or something else? What versions of these OSes (Tiger vs Leopard, XP vs Vista, 32-bit vs 64-bit, etc)? How is MZX set up? If your problem is regarding a certain aspect of MZX (such as the display), what are the relevant settings in the config file?

Thanks, Management.

The help file says that a v-layers size can be up to about 16.7 million chars large and to change its size with the counter vlayer_size. When I try to set it to 65536 ( I want a width of 512 and height of 128), it resets to 0. If I set it to 32768 it changes it to -32768. If I change it to 32767 it stays at that size.

The way I read the directions in help, I first set vlayer_size, then I can define vlayer_width and vlayer_height. So setting width and height before defining size is useless right? Or am I not understanding it correctly?

Currently working on Servo for MegaZeux, I hope to complete it by the middle of 2015? Who knows...

You're correct. What do you mean that it 'changes it to -32768'? Obviously the vlayer size can't be -32768. If you mean the number in the robot editor is changing to -32768, that's because you need to express larger numbers in an expression as the bytecode format limits values to the range -32768-32767.

<Malwyn> Yes, yes. Don't worry I'd rather masturbate with broken glass than ask you for help again. :(

Oh, that's right! I've never had to deal with a counter larger than 32678. I forgot that was the limit. So to make vlayer_size = 65536, I would want to create an expression such as (32768+32768)?

Just this should do:

set "vlayer_size" "(65536)"
"Let's just say I'm a GOOD hacker, AND virus maker. I'm sure you wouldn't like to pay for another PC would you?"

I usually prefer to express stuff like this in more explicitly marked powers of 2 anyway with an expression like
set "vlayer_size" to "(1<<16)"

Well, I say "prefer" like I actually use MZX anymore. I have preferred in the past.
