If you are new to DMZX, please take the time to look over the FAQ pinned in General before asking a question.

Some simple tips when posting problems:

1) Read FAQs first, and then other recent bug posts and entries in the Bug Tracker. The problem has, often, been already addressed. Redundant reports just waste time.

2) Make sure you explain exactly when the problem happens. If impossible, narrow down the problem to a few possible causes.

3) Go into specifics about your computer and MZX settings. Are you running MZX on Windows, Linux, Mac OS, a PSP, or something else? What versions of these OSes (Tiger vs Leopard, XP vs Vista, 32-bit vs 64-bit, etc)? How is MZX set up? If your problem is regarding a certain aspect of MZX (such as the display), what are the relevant settings in the config file?

Thanks, Management.

Hello,

I recently installed the latest available version of DMZX for Raspbian and I was wondering where I could find the config file for it? I did some (poor) searching through the archive and wasn't really able to turn anything up. Apologies if this has already been asked.

Thanks!-,

It's not well-documented and someone had to help me with it too.

Basically you'll find your MZX config a couple of file directories "up" from where you expect, then "down" again.

Summary of Discord conversation:

Me: i also cna't [sic] find a config.txt to change, but maybe that's a commandline thing
Lancer: /etc/megazeux-config?
something like that
did you build with --platform unix or --platform unix-devel?
Me: --platform unix, per wiki
Lancer: oh actually nowadays we have per-user config
look for hidden files in your home dir
or just launch megazeux with megazeux video_output=softscale from console
but yeah the per-user conf should be ~/.megazeux-config

So find that file and make sure your output is softscale because otherwise Pi4B will wreck your stuff.

KKairos is correct, the default config file should be located at /etc/megazeux-config. Upon running MZX it creates a copy in the user dir at ~/.megazeux-config if it doesn't already exist. The one in the user dir is the one you want to edit.
