Hey, Now that Mzx has read/write abilities, it can be networked.  It's just that it might run a bit slow.  I was thinking, what about cookies?  The server can read cookies right? Well, You could log on to a server, it would give you a list of other players, you'd recieve a cookie and tell Mzx to read it.  Then you'd play and Mzx would write to the cookie every couple seconds or something and the server woould read the cookie every couple seconds.  Just an Idea, I don't know how well it would work.

Another thing:  If there are so many programmers that play Mzx, why isn't it already networked?  I can't be the first to think about this and I probably sound kinda lame, but I'm serious.  There are two developers currently working on separate Mzx versions, yet niether is even bothering to network.  It would probably be pretty easy.  Then again, maybe not.  Is there some obvious reason??

I didn't think that was possible.  Then again, I don't program.

Actually it probably would be possible. I could help on the programming side. if you wanted to make it.
This would be SuPeRfUn!.
With file rw you can make a webbrowser.
Search for getweb at qb45.com qfinder.
IT IS POSSIBLE just not using html you'd have to have your own format.

Networked mzx would be too slow. If you want multiplayer mzx
just have one person use the up/down keys and another person use the left/right keys.

All of the changes in MZXAk/2.6 have been very trivial to code. A fundamental change such as networking would not be. Well, an akward implementation might be if this wasn't for DOS... I'm sure something is possible, but nothing that really changes the core of MZX.

OF COURSE it's possible. The difficult thing would be an internet connection. I have already made a game that works on a LAN/IPX network. All it does is create a file that can be read by another computer using a copy of megazeux running in the same folder.

If anyone doesn't believe me I'll take the liberty of making it user-friendly and upload it.

You can probably do a TCP/IP network if necessary, and use file sharing with it.

Realize that this is not in the least bit feasible for any decent 2 player simultaneous play, but it'd probably work for simple turn based games.

Exo, I like your idea about the turn based game.  You could build up your chars and fight, kinda like Digimon.  I'm too lazy to learn DHTML and how to use cookies, but I'd like to see someone do it.  I'd help if they wanted......(I'm so damnn lazy)

Hey, that reminds me! Gemini's Games Stockpile (availible here i believe) contained an unfinished MZX-themed card game. He got all the cards made, but none of the play mechanics. Maybe if somebody were to pick up on this project they could add in MZX2.62's read write functions and finish it.

On another note, people could also slightly modify JZig's XCOM Engine (at Terryn's ANTIARCHIVE) and make it multiplayer...the possibilities would be endless.
Blaugh!
Serious damage to important body parts pretty much ruins any plans you had for living. Bummer.

I once tried to make a digimon game years ago. i lost all progress at one point, and gave up. it would have turned out horribly, tho
