We've been working on the new site design pretty hard lately, as a lot of you who visit the site issues board know. We've squished most of the database/script erros now, and we're working on design and resolutions compatibility now. We need more people to go look at the page and give us feedback.

We've just updated the template, so hopefully some of the other problems are taken care of.

the right menu(which i hate but no prob :P) over writes text in the main news window etc. if its to long and not line broken.

Aside from the menu bug (and a few broken links, which are probably normal) this is a really good design. In fact, it places the spotlight on new games, so I think it will boost productivity a lot :) . It looks somewhat like mworld too.

Make sure you add a 'lastest games' thingey too :)

Yeah, now that I think about it, I really dig the way in which games show up very well, in contrast to the current DigiMZX where they're almost hidden. Good job :)

Blue Colored Web Site Theory:

Why so many web sites (especially mzx ones) are blue.

Blue is the easiest color to make a web site in without it lookin sparce.   Blue is also the easiest to use to make the site look visually appealing.  But why is this?

There seems to be some genetic predisposition towards the liking of  the color blue.  Most kids like it,  about 70% of boys and 30% of girls claim it as their favorite color.

Next is the solidity of the color blue which is not shared by most other colors.  In the real world the two main things that are blue are the sky and the ocean(due to the sky) and of cource numerous cars.  All of these thinks are 'pure' blue as in a single color with few lightness and hue changes.  So we are accustomed to just seeing solid areas of blue.  An good example of the opposite is the color green.  Everyone sees more of the color green then any other color (another genetic makeup that makes out eyes more sensitive to that frequency of light) this and the correlation with the fact that most of nature is green.  The difference comes in that green is never solid but rather varies with hugh and lightness and there is a high degree of details.  Take grass, its all green, but its not 'solid' by any means, you can see all the blades, same with trees.

To shorten the arguement, for green, brown, grey, most people are accustomed to detailed graphics for grass, wood, stone whatever.  That is why when sites are made based upon these colors that is usually what is done with them.  Graphics are time consuming, especially with a web site where carefull planning must be done when making them.

Blue on the other hand is really easy to do, and excells at being visually appealing without details.  Thats why besides black and white, blue is the most used background color.  Because people accept it as 'sky' rather then particular thing.

I don't think we've ever actually done a blue background site before. We've had white with blue(The first one) and then the red/black/gold combo, and then another blue/white one(this one). The new one is the first 'blue' site we've ever done. :)

And basically, Akwende's long rant can be summariased as such: Most people like blue, as it is easy on the eyes and doesn't distract from the content.
