Help
I partitioned my hard drive for to install a Linux partition using PM7. Now the drive is unbootable! I have it in a work computer(this computer) right now and installed PM7 here and it says everything is all right but I can't access the hard drive it says a device isn't functioning properly! I need help. Prefferable before 12 oclokc to day.

Are you in windows doesn't automatically recognise linux partitions (I forget the format).
Windows uses FAT partitions while Linux uses some other type. For you to see the linux partition in windows you'd need another program that can identify and read linux's partition format.
If you cannot do ANYTHING with the partition, just delete it. It's worthless and doesn't have anything you can't get back with a new install anyway.

I think Linux uses Unix partitions. I think.

Linux usually uses ext2/ext3. There really isn't a standard "Unix partition" AFAIK.
Two out of three of the Unix systems I've used not divide the drive into partitions, but also divide the partitions into slices (the two that did that are FreeBSD and SCO UnixWare, the one that didn't is Mac OS X). I don't think Linux supports anything like that.

Here's what I did. I had a FAT 32 partition take up the entire 80GB drive. I used Partition Magic 7 to resize the fat32 partition to leave about 13GB of unused space which I filled with an extended partition with a Linux ext2 partition and a linux swap partition. After the changes were made, the Fat32 partition stopped working. I tried removing the Lionux partitions to make it back to normal and it still doesn't work. I always get an 'Invalid Maedia Type error reading drive C(cr)(lf)Abort, Retry, Fail' error. I tried putting it into a Linux computer and it wouldn't mount. I used a PArtition Magic bootdisk to check ifd there was still anything left in the partition and it sayd that there was 5GB(about) worth of data which is true. I did operations>check for errors and it says it's all ok. Is there anyway I can get the partition to be accessible or is it gone for good? *whew*

Okay enough mockery. The answer is NO, unless Partition Magic has a website, which it probably does! Google for "intitle:"Partition Magic"" I'm sure you'll come up with a few good sites dedicated to Partition Magic, if not the homepage of Partition Magic itself.

I'm sure you probably know this, but if you're using Windows NT/2000/XP/etc your partition needs to be NTFS, not FAT32.

My solution is:
Get: Darik's Boot-n-Nuke (DBAN) - http://dban.sourceforge.net/
Then, use partition magic to make your partitions, and then reinstall your OS.
Unless you have files you plan on keeping. Then, I guess you're screwed.

Also, it sounds as though your partition table, not your filesystems, is wacked. I'd suggest you get BootIt NG from http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/ for partitioning as PM7 has its quirks. Personal I'm a destructive repartitioning guy but when I had to do resizing BootIt worked.

neverminf. I tried getdataback and the filesystem was in terrible shape. I got like 10 instances of /paul/mzx and all of them were corrupted files. I'm formatyting as we speak. Err... Type.

You know, some programs for getting you're data back, can even recover files after you format the drive! <3
I love that so much, Especially when I see an Ebay sale for a used Hard drive,
"I reformatted it so NO there is no software on it that you can warez or my credit card numbers! I erased thoes EVEN BEFORE I formatted so there no way you can get thoes!!! LOLZ"
Heh. funny persons them HDD ebay sellers. Of course to get Some of the REALLY good programs, it'll either set you back $2k OR a few hours on kazaa ^^
