Help
Well, for the first time in my MZX existence, I have to admit that I was wrong about something. A while back I said that Dragon Warrior sucked. I have to revise that statement. Dragon Warrior I sucked. I have started to play DWII, and I actually like it pretty well. So, now I've corrected my unfair blanket statement, and that's over with.

Dragon Quest V for the Super Famicom/SNES is pretty cool (and the only DQ/DW game that held my interest for more than an hour). It was never officially released in America, but a translation is floating around on the Internet. I can't tell you where to find that, of course.

Have it. Nice story, but the whole thing about having to raise monsters to get anywhere irritates me because I don't want to, and when you don't want to, you have to train extra hard to beat bosses and stuff.

Yeah, I think 3-6 are the best in the DW series... 7 took waaaaay too long to get ANYWHERE and I can't stand 2 
8 looks absolutely gorgeous though, one of the best looking games I've ever seen since ICO. DQ >>>>> FF

But that doesn't mean DQ's not good. Just that FF is better.
Side note: The DQ Remix version of Dragon Warrior I is better. All the "thee talk" has been removed. As has one of my big gripes, "'the' syndrome." ("you found the herb," "you found the torch," "you found the coin," etc.)

I tried Dragon Quest 5, with DeJap's translation patch. I just could not get into it. The story felt samey, the battles were far too frequent, and I just stopped playing it. I can't play games like that without becoming very bored.

Okay. I just purchased DW3 for GameBoy Color, and I have one this to say. WOW. There is not a single ounce of suck remaining in this game. The NES version was ugly as all crap, with the same awful interface as DW1-2. The GBC version has better graphics than anything I've ever seen on GBC, plus an incredibly improved interface, more coherent dialogue, and a lot more explanation/exposition. WOW.
