Wow, the Omega Pirate battle is the most fucking retarded boss battle I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. I love how they give you virtually no clue on how to actually damage him, then just start sending in random enemies so that you don't even have a chance to think about it. Coupled with Prime's "wonderful" targetting system that makes for an incredible experience.

Stupid bullshit.

Guess they had to throw in one stupidly difficult boss considering how all the ones up to that point were really easy.

I killed the rock guy first try. He wasn't really difficult for me, just annoying.

Omega Pirate is excessive IMO.

I am now a proud owner of a Super Nintendo and Super Metroid.

I was so desperate to play that I fixed the broken controller that I got with the system. Go here for the nitty gritty:

You deserved it for flaunting your SM cart.

I've definitely gotten used to Super Metroid's gameplay. Wall jumping felt weird to me at first but now I find that it's even easier in SM than it is in ZM. Hard to tell whether ZM or SM is truly faster, though, especially considering I'm really used to them both. I'd say that they're about the same, though.

I've had the game slow down on me a ton of times. Oh well. :p

The graphics are very nice. I forgot how awesome side-scrollers looked in the 16-bit era...wish I would have kept my Genesis.

The sounds and music are absolutely incredible. The intro text that's read at the beginning ("The last metroid is in captivity. The galaxy is at peace.") is a little cheesy, but it's cool because I never knew that the SNES's sound quality was that crisp.

Super Metroid is an amazing game. If all you know is the Prime and/or GBA games then you need to get an emulator and a decent controller (or, better yet, an SNES and the cart) and play Super Metroid right now.

I've been finally sitting down and making some progress in Prime. The x-ray visor and plasma beam weapon both friggin' rock. :p

Do you guys play Prime at all?

I've beaten it almost 3 or 4 times. I love the detail they put into the Metroid Prime and it's sequel. I thought it was fascinating how the symbols for the beam weapons were the finger positions for her to use the gun. I found this out using the X-Ray visor.
The plasma beam did rock, but the annihilator beam in MP2 is the best!

No kidding? I'll have to look at that. I do like how you can see her skeleton. Nice touch indeed.

Probably the oddest thing that I've seen was with the thermal visor. It seems to show extreme heat and extreme cold the same way (and it's not necessarily consistant, either -- freeze something and it disappears from sight), and that's a little off-putting.

Is it just me, or is the "hard" mode in Metroid Prime just as easy as the normal mode? The first time I died ever on Prime was Ridley and it was just because he was ramming me so much and I wasn't able to jump out of the way fast enough. Metroid Prime 2 has some nice cutscenes, like when you see all the federation troopers get wiped out by some of the Ing. Does anyone else here besides me have Prime 2? I think the funnest battle for me in Prime 2 was riding up the elevator while fighting Dark Samus.

I have Prime 2 now...just got the Dark Beam, actually.

The stupid jumping shit near the end of Prime 1 turned me off completely. I have yet to complete it. I thought Ridley was a joke, honestly. :p First try.

Wait till you get to the boost ball guardian. I think one of the most creative bosses in 2 is the spider ball guardian, but that's in Sanctuary Fortress... Getting 100% is hard though. I'm missing about 3 power bombs short of complete success which is getting on my nerves.
