Due to a lack of constructive posts from many users, as well as general administrative apathy towards the forum, the Arcade has been put out of its misery.

A new version of the forum has been created. Currently, only users who are Elite or higher can access it. We are currently debating options for giving access to normal members.

The core problem here, I think, is that forum posting games are just dumb to begin with. Take a look at any particular GameFAQs social board if you don't believe me. So naturally any forum game is going to become really stupid really fast unless it has a lot of smart and funny posters participating in it. The obvious solution, then, is to make the arcade invite-only. Or you could just bulldoze it entirely and encourage people to go on GFAQs if they want to play dumb forum games. Yeah, I know I haven't been at DMZX for very long, but you could tell just by glancing that the arcade was a lame pup almost at conception.

Whiners. I remember more than a few people calling for the Arcade's removal when I tried to patch it up a month or so back. Patch wasn't working, so we went with the "nuke it" plan, and NOW you complain. So here's what we're gonna do.

You've got your Arcade back. Congratulations. And you don't even have to worry about being intelligent or creative anymore, you can post whatever the hell comes off the top of your head and it'll be fine, because you know what? We just don't care anymore. Obviously, general forum rules still apply, but the Arcade has no specific rules anymore. You get to moderate yourselves, because we're tired of it, it's just too stressful. That means there's no request thread anymore, start new games at your whim. That means you can ping-pong as much as you like. That means you can go and derail a game by forgetting to include a continuation, and no one will stop you or void your post or anything. You're on your own now, hope you like it.
As for the rest of us, the Admins and the Elites, we've got our own new shiny Arcade to play in, and we will. And of course, I at least certainly won't be posting in the old Arcade anymore, and I'm recommending the same to everyone else with access to the new one, because hell, I don't expect to see anything interesting in the old cesspool anymore. If you're dissatisfied with that situation, then it's up to you to prove me wrong. Make some good posts, make do with what you have, no one's stopping you from playing the games to the best of your ability. Hey, if you're clearly outshining the rest of the bunch, we might just invite you to join us. But for now, well, that's how it is.

"You built this house, you made this bed, and now you get to sleep in it."
To lie is to change the truth.
..Ignorance is to be unaware of the truth.
....Incompetence is to be unable to grasp the truth.
......And escape is to run away from the truth.
It is useless to run, since the truth is right next to you.

Well, it'd be nice if maybe certain peasants got to post-- like, in the nice one, who knows.

Also I think I posted here but it was erased, or something. That seems to happen a lot, sorry :p

Interesting development. HOORAH FOR TOTAL ANARCHY, SOON THE WORLD WILL BOW DOWN TO THE IDEAL OF TOTAL CHAOS *cough* excuse me. Anyway, I agree certain good posters should get a chance in the "big leagues" so to speak, or at least have them read-only for the rest of us. It's like baseball. We're the crappy Junior High league, you guys are the Major League. We play in ours, but we can only watch yours.

And ler that would just be an invasion of privacy :p

This way the Arcade will pretty much be like a MZXer version of z2. Which might be either/both a good or/and bad thing, depending...

why remove it? if you don't like it, then don't go there, but there's no reason to just remove it for the sake of removing it. heck, we don't even get post counts for posting in it, so it's not like there's any problem if someone wants to spam to death in the arcade.

back when it was moderated, i bairly ventured into the arcade (i'm pretty bad at these games.) now that it's unmoderated, i don't see much point.

EDIT: I think I know. Maybe it can only even be viewable at the main forum menu by admins and elite members.

It's not staff only. Elites are allowed to post in the good arcade as well.

Also, the activities there are a lot more mature and organized. I always thought the old arcade seemed to be a bit to high maintenence, anyway.

Just an idea, how about appointing someone that think that s/he can take care of the arcade (and that you know isn't a complete fucktard) as a moderator over it?

I apply!

I may not be the most creative all the time, or even some of the time, but I do at least know what's wrong and have ideas on how to fix it.
