This was a really good engine back in the day. It does what it does pretty well and has a well documented initialization section.
What it doesn't do well is the default jump key is J. Also there's no height control, so tapping the key will send you flying into the air. The arc is nice and floaty, though, and even the 1x1 platforms are easy to hit.
Variable jump height should have been an option, but this engine was written during a time when robots were limited to 40 commands per cycle and 50 counters per world. There might not have been room in the first case.
Even with its outdated robotic style, though, it may be good for newbies to study because the code is simple and heavily commented.
As a bonus, the test board is nice to look at. I like the sunrise gradient.
