Mutant Warzone is as interesting as it is poorly executed.

There's no robotic whatsoever. It's entirely based on the built-in mechanics. You play on a huge board and fight massive hordes of built-ins. They're just clouds, but sometimes the fighting gets interesting.

On about half the boards fire burns forever, so you can use bombs to cordon off areas from where you can be mobbed. The main board is huge and full of buildings. And there's a few buildings that lead to separate boards.

On the indoor boards, however, there's altogether too much standing around firing. Sure, that's what the built-in mechanics are about, standing around, firing, then repositioning yourself. But these boards are way too overpopulated.

There's also the problem, on all boards, that there's too many separate items. Think rooms full of ammo and health. It does make it easier to grab when you really need something though.

The main problem with this game, though, is there is no ending. You could kill everything, but there's no code-based checks and nowhere you can go to end the game in victory.

Graphics are very basic, almost all solid tiles for the environments. At least the character set was edited. Also there's no music and the sound effects are all stock PC speaker effects. Not good, but not bad enough to be offensive.

It's a shame that it isn't a bit more complete and a bit more well-planned. The reason I wrote so much about this game is because with actual flow, better graphics and maybe some decent music/sound it could have been a two or three star game. Without any robotic code. Hmm... I mean, it pulls off the survival angle pretty well, even if it is probably by accident.
