Funky Chunky Monkey. You play a late-night talk show host, who is also a yellow monkey. This is a "random comedy" in the traditions of the Cans series, without the cameos. The style of graphics is undoubtedly a little dated for today, using mostly the standard MZX charset with a few modifications. Explosions are overused, as are [ boxes and * strings with low WAITs that make the game near-impossible to play on MZX's default setting of Speed 4 (Turn it down to 5 or 6 to read whats going on). Some bugs where you can interrupt a robot in the middle of its processing (Lockself is your friend!), oh, and default sound effects :(. The music is random and odd, and honestly best left off. All this said, its considered quite a staple of 90s MZX comedy. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite live up to today's standards. 2 stars.

Ah, Funky Chunky Monkey. Probably my favorite Scott Hammack game. It's your standard Megazeux adventure where you go around finding people and using items on them and other things... cept this time you're a talking monkey who's also a talk show host.
There's not much of a plot, and it's never explained why you're a talking monkey. But the game does have a well developed world and characters for something made in Megazeux.
It's relatively solid, except there are at least 2 places where you can get stuck permanently... if you miss some easy-to-find items on the first board. Which leads to the next problem, a *lot* of things will explode when you touch 'em. It's not major, you have plenty of health and lives to deal with it... but it is pretty retarded.
Interestingly, in the middle of the game, you can go one of two (completely different) routes and get different endings! You can access either after talking to the director the first time. There's also an easter egg involving the "pillow count," but it's pretty useless.
Graphics are simple but mostly nice looking. Scott Hammack did well with 8x14 tiles. Music is stuff that's been used in other Megazeux games but is appropriate enough...
I like this game, and recommend checking it out at least. I'd have given it 4 stars if it at least didn't have the exploding objects and if it were a bit longer. Also, 250th review.
