Since its formation, Aevaze has released a total of seven games. Pfft. My guess is none of them. The only skill T-Bone has ever demonstrated is faithfully reproducing artwork from lots of classic games. Which is great, for an artist, but means basically nothing if you can't design and code a game to go with it. T-Bone has consistently shown that he can't do this, so, yeah. Math: The Roguelike was a seven-day roguelike created in MegaZeux. Its main goal is to pass through the number-cave and fight numbergoblins in an attempt to recover Fermat's Other Last Theorem.

Description
Its main mechanic is to use a set of four mostly mathematically or logically themed objects as player equipment. There are various weapons, each of which come with an explicitly stated dice-roll. The second piece of equipment is a damage function which acts on the resulting dice-roll as input to give output based on whatever rule it has, e.g. a dice-roll of 3 and the linear damage function y = x simply produces 3 again.

The last piece of equipment comes in the form of a two-part conditional. Whenever the "if" condition "p" is triggered, the "then" condition "q" results. This conditional could do things like heal the player or further modify the final damage.

While KKairos originally thought all the bugs had been cleared up in the second fix, it is likely based on an LP that was done by his request that the game's second fix is still capable of creating an unpassable floor, although how rare this is precisely is unknown.

Reception
The game was well-received by MegaZeuxers, though it received average ratings in the DigitalMZX vault. It also enjoyed a small but good reception from those in the roguelike community who played it.

They are almost completely unrelated in continuity, the only real connection being that they each involve dungeon exploration. However, the first game is essentially a top-down shooter, the second is a simple side-scroller, and the third is also a fairly simple side-scroller at heart but is considerably more difficult.
This was KKairos's attempt at making a dungeon-y action game. It plays like a sort of bastardized MZX Combat Trainer. You could do some cool stuff, like help build your town up, but the game was--in many, many ways--broken, and featured largely if not completely default enemies.
The second in the series follows the main minor character, Cord Elmin, in a quest for fame and riches. There is no mention of any of the events of the previous game. In this game there are four ruins to visit. Cord has a gun with which to shoot enemies and, in addition, can grab on to certain wheels of the ruin and 'ride' the wheel on its rope. The ultimate goal of the game is to kill all the enemies in each area, get all the gems in the game, and finish every level in under '500' by the in-game timer. Ruin Diver 2 is not much more advanced than the first but is more bug-free.
Description
The third game in the series was a very different entry from the two before. It was originally made by KKairos as a prototype, then slowly expanded, with the main release and Silver Edition release following. The latest and last version, Turbo Silver Edition, was released in 2011. The main goal of Ruin Diver III is to reach the bottom of a randomly-generated platforming dungeon and retrieve the Book of the Meaning of Life, and then get back up in one piece. Along the way are special side-shafts the player can enter that have different elements from the main vertical corridor. Characters are killed/KO'ed in one hit unless they can manage to use the shields found in the dungeon for greater protection. Once a character is dead, the game run ends and a new dungeon is generated.

Silver and Turbo Silver Editions
Silver Edition notably increased the roster of characters available in RDIII from the original vault release of four, to the current cast of eight. It also added a new collectible item, silver, which was worth more than gold had been. Turbo Silver Edition, released in 2011, streamlined gameplay and shrunk the main play area in an attempt to make processing easier. It also allowed for a couple of new game modes including an "Easy Mode" and a "Ridiculous Mode." The soundtrack to the game included a few new or remixed songs, including (in addition to rehashes or reworkings by KKairos himself) remixes and original pieces by CJA, GreaseMonkey, Sai`ke, and Lachesis.

Description
Adlo is a sidescrolling game released in the time of MegaZeux 2.51s3.1. You play Adlo, a man who has received a letter of supposed forgiveness from a Scotsman named Xyzphylplytz whom he used to tease in Kindergarten for being Scottish. In your travels you meet many different people, including a few ZZTers who serve as bosses, and craNKGod, the creator of the game.

In Adlo many of the standard sidescrolling conventions are in use--jumping on enemies' heads, for example, automatically scrolling stages, collection of randomly airborne goodies, and others. You can also get bombs which can be thrown at your enemies or used to blow open cracks in the wall, revealing small secret stages.

Gold, Silver and Bronze Ampersands can be found in each level. Finding all three in every single level unlocks a special surprise, but to do so you have to do many different tasks, many of are difficult to pull off. There are the secret stages as well, all set on the secret island of Sri Lanka.

After finishing a level, you participate in a minigame, which is usually if not always populated with members of the ZZT community.

Soundtrack
craNKGod, with a bit of help from ScarJT, wrote the S3Ms that were used in Adlo. (Popcorn '98 was seemingly adapted from another song.)

Fair Lady Warning is a sidescroller released by KKairos on December 31st, 2012. It received a bug-fix update on January 1st, 2013. In this game, Lady Warning of the House of Longboot, who is to receive the crown of the Queenship from her mother and one day rule their dominion, goes on a quest to take down a castaway from her grandmother's court who is out for revenge against the family and its domain. Warning's main weapon is a small dagger which allows her to perform many high-flying moves as long as she has enough energy to do so.

Throughout the game players can collect Warning Coins, which are just for honor, or big hearts, which increase the maximum amount of life Lady Warning can have. At the end of each level, there is a boss fight which must be overcome to move on to the next level. The game has two difficulties, Mild Warning which gives players 5 lives per level and in which falling on spikes damages up to 1/3 of Lady Warning's health, and Severe Warning which only gives 3 lives per level and in which spike damage is up to 1/2 of Warning's health.

While he was the primary developer and did the work for the game, including engines and design, fellow MegaZeuxer ThDPro served as a major beta tester and counsel for design, and is credited with helping keep the game's difficulty less insane than it could have been. The author also credits electromaniacal with a minor graphical consult on the matter of hex tiling.

The game contains an original soundtrack composed by KKairos.

This was KKairos's attempt at making a dungeon-y action game. It plays like a sort of bastardized MZX Combat Trainer. You could do some cool stuff, like help build your town up, but the game was--in many, many ways--broken, and featured largely if not completely default enemies.
Ruin Diver 2
The second in the series follows the main minor character, Cord Elmin, in a quest for fame and riches. There is no mention of any of the events of the previous game. In this game there are four ruins to visit. Cord has a gun with which to shoot enemies and, in addition, can grab on to certain wheels of the ruin and 'ride' the wheel on its rope. The ultimate goal of the game is to kill all the enemies in each area, get all the gems in the game, and finish every level in under '500' by the in-game timer. Ruin Diver 2 is not much more advanced than the first but is more bug-free.
Ruin Diver III

Reception
Ruin Diver III was received fairly well in the MegaZeux community, though it also gained a quick reputation for being a very difficult game. In part because of this, persons more outside of the MegaZeux community known as Porpentine and anna anthropy picked up the game and as a result it gained some exposure to the hardcore indie gamers outside of the MegaZeux community itself.

Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is a chat protocol that involves connecting to a server and joining a "room", where text is sent back and forth in real-time between everybody currently in the room.

The MegaZeux community uses IRC on a regular basis, mainly on EsperNet and MZXIRC. The usual community channel is #mzx on SlashNet. For a time there were #mzx and #zeux on SlashNet, and #dunno on MZXIRC.

The MegaZeux community actually has a long history of migrating between different IRC channels and IRC networks altogether, with some rather sordid details of feud and conspiracy.

Notable regulars of the early IRC years include yenrab, mono, Kev Vance, Matt Williams, Scott Hammack, zztzed, ZZTOmega, piman, MenTaLguY, Luke Drelick, inmate2993, Legendd, Monthigos, and so on. Most have all but disappeared from the community. A majority of these individuals were in fact quite young at the time, with the typical age range being 13-15.

Mid 1996: The first MegaZeux channel, #megazeux, is formed on the Undernet network. Many established MZXers from the AOL community as well as the MZX Mailing List find their way here. Alexis Janson is initially present in the channel but is gradually driven off due to harassment and a disinterest in the community.

Early 1997: A flame campaign against other channels on the network, led by Luke Drelick and some of the other less mature members of #megazeux, results in the channel losing its registered status and effectively being kicked off the network. #megazeux migrates to the Australian operated AustNet, under the guidance of some of its IRCOps.

1999: #megazeux moves to pfnet, which consists of servers owned and operated by community members. This results in server administrators gaining more power in the IRC community than they had previously.

2000: The "old regime" of #megazeux operators, having become increasingly frustrated with the state of the community, decides to abandon the channel while instating new operators with the deliberate intention of causing the channel to become even worse, leading in its self destruction. This is basically exactly what happens, with internal disputes and abuse of services causing heated arguments and bitter feelings to erupt, eventually leading in the channel's migration to espernet. Sometime later, a remigration to pfnet occurs. However, soon only two servers are available as options, and with one of them being ran on a low bandwidth cable modem the other becomes the only viable option for most. The operator of this server, an individual not heavily involved in the MZX community, ends up massively abusing his power, by punishing people he doesn't like (even for using the other server). Many eventually leave this network for this reason, and the previously private #mzx on espernet becomes the new recognized hub for the MZX community.

2002: #megazeux moves to to the Sorcery network, where some of its long present remembers stay with it. Many of the regulars still present were found to actually ridicule MZX, MZX users, and MZX development, despite continuing to chat in a channel named "#megazeux."

In part because of this, persons more outside of the MegaZeux community known as Porpentine and anna anthropy picked up the game and as a result it gained some exposure to the hardcore indie gamers outside of the MegaZeux community itself.

Characters are killed/KO'ed in one hit unless they can manage to use the shields found in the dungeon for greater protection. Once a character is dead, the game run ends and a new dungeon is generated.
Turbo Silver Edition
Turbo Silver Edition, released in 2011, streamlined gameplay and shrunk the main play area in an attempt to make processing easier. It also allowed for a couple of new game modes including an "Easy Mode" and a "Ridiculous Mode." The soundtrack to the game included a few new or remixed songs, including (in addition to rehashes or reworkings by KKairos himself) remixes and original pieces by CJA, GreaseMonkey, Sai`ke, and Lachesis.
The ultimate goal of the game is to kill all the enemies in each area, get all the gems in the game, and finish every level in under '500' by the in-game timer. Ruin Diver 2 is not much more advanced than the first but is more bug-free.
Ruin Diver 3
The third game in the series was a very different entry from the two before. It was originally made by KKairos as a prototype, then slowly expanded, with the main release and Silver Edition release following. The latest and last version, Turbo Silver Edition, was released in 2011. The main goal of Ruin Diver III is to reach the bottom of a randomly-generated platforming dungeon and retrieve the Book of the Meaning of Life, and then get back up in one piece.

KKairos: /* Summer 2009 DsDoZ */ clarity to establish that i had agreed that maxim was probably correct, though it may read naturally enough as-is.

Day of Zeux Drama is the phenomenon by which MegaZeuxers who participate in, judge or host a Day of Zeux competition create drama from disputes about rules, judging results, or competition topics; mostly the second item.

Summer 2008 DsDoZ
There was a pair of snafus surrounding the Summer 2008 Dualstream Day of Zeux involving planning and information: the first was when Terryn put the dates of the MZXCon in the poll for wanted DoZ dates, and the second when asgromo thought the DoZ was going to start on a Friday instead of the voted Saturday. Another sticking point was the specific topic, which was "Summer 2008 DsDoZ and the End of the World." Nearly everyone considered it too specific and cumbersome.

Winter 2008 DsDoZ
In the Winter 2008 Dualstream Day of Zeux, the judges were initially Tecki, Aussie Evil, SeventhShade and ScottVyper, but after receiving fierce criticism over the quality of his scores Aussie Evil withdrew them and Terryn filled his place. ScottVyper's scores were also hotly contested and declaimed, prompting him to leave forever, but the scores themselves remained.

Summer 2009 DsDoZ
In the Summer 2009 Dualstream Day of Zeux, LogiCow provided the obligatory DoZ drama, posting a lengthy complaint about the DoZ before the dust had even settled, and Leaving In A Huff. His game was the one disqualification in the competition, on counts of theme relevance, and of failing to run in MZX 2.82b (since he had produced it in the SVN development version). This resulted in LogiCow leaving forever (but not really). Additionally, maxim felt that KKairos had exercised bad judgment in rating Goshi's entry, Paranoid Heavens, higher than his entry Achtung; KKairos agreed that maxim was probably correct.

The debate preceding that same Day of Zeux, over the score-sheet changes in the main Day of Zeux thread of competitions (whether the theme-lite and theme-heavy scoresheets should be tied to the concrete and abstract topics, respectively) provided some amount of Day of Zeux drama.

Winter 2010 DsDoZ
The Winter 2010 Dualstream Day of Zeux put previously established guidelines on judging quality and timeliness to the test when Kuddy submitted his scores at the end of the judging week without comments, and astral's comments failed to meet the 300 word-per-game average. After strong complaints from Wervyn, both scores were retracted. Despite the final scores being the result of only three combined judges, Wervyn insists that this is exactly what he had in mind when he proposed the system.

'MZXCon' is planned to be an annual event where MZXers from all parts of the country or world can get together in one location for friendly competition, and socialization. It is still early in development, and as only two named MZXCons have passed, the details and events are still being tested for how well they fare with attending community members.
* "Perfectly Sane Damsels In Distress" (Wervyn, Terryn, pyro1588)
* "Mind Phuck" (Exophase, asgromo, MZXGiant) [Winner]
Other activities included seeing the movie "WALL-E", a brief mall visit, and swimming.

KKairos: more doz drama, lifted/adapted from relevant articles

Additionally, maxim felt that KKairos had exercised bad judgment in rating Goshi's entry, Paranoid Heavens, higher than his entry Achtung; KKairos agreed that this was probably incorrect.

Maxim should be able to verify my agreement that that was a fluke in my judging, which I am, overall, still proud of. Just not proud of that part.
