The Summer Dualstream Day of Zeux 2001 was organised by Terryn and started July 6th, 2001 at 9PM GMT (ending the same time the next day). The topics were "Rebirth" and "Bloodthirsty Plants"; Terryn, Tixus, Thundercloud and wizdom judged while Omega handled number assignment.

This Day of Zeux is notable for several reasons:

  • This is the Day of Zeux which introduced the "Dualstream" format; before there were two mutually-exclusive topics assigned, hosts only gave out one.
  • There was a controversy around one of the submissions, called "Porno Creep", which created heated debate over the nature of games meant for slander.
  • MegaZeux Ak 1.0's forward-compatibility caused wizdom's results for two games to become invalid (he used MZX 2.51s3.2 to judge them). An argument on the worth of forwards compat broke out. (Side note: forward compat was left in until Exophase removed it in MZX 2.62)
  • This Day of Zeux introduced the trend of elaborate suxiT joke entries; Inuchance had made joke entries in past DoZs, but suxiT entries expended considerable effort.
  • The host was (for the first time in DoZ history) relatively new to the community; Terryn had only been in the community for little over a year when he announced this DoZ, while previous hosts had been in the community for at least two years.

The entries were scored as follows:
