Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is a chat protocol that involves connecting to a server and joining a "room", where text is sent back and forth in real-time between everybody currently in the room.
The MegaZeux community uses IRC on a regular basis, mainly on EsperNet and MZXIRC. Commonly used channels include #mzx and #zeux on EsperNet, and #dunno on MZXIRC.
