Engine is the first MegaZeux game released by Luke Drelick.
Engine was released as shareware, and for many years, one had to register in order to play the second half of the game. It holds the distinct honor of being one of the few shareware MegaZeux games ever released, along with the Zeux series, STRIKESOFT's games, and Ed Venture. Luke released the full version in 2000 to hype the release of the game's sequel, Engine: The Second Attack.
In May 2005, Luke released Engine 1 Remix, a special edition of the original Engine.
